Accurate soil sampling is critical for reliable soil test results, which help determine:

• Soil health assessment
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Fertilization strategies
• pH correction needs

• Under Trees: Soil beneath trees may have irregular nutrient levels
• Near Irrigation Channels: Altered properties due to consistent moisture
• Field Boundaries: Often depleted of nutrients due to weed growth
• Under Fertilizer Piles: Shows skewed nutrient levels
• Animal Housing Areas: Elevated nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels
• Wet Soil: Can interfere with lab testing accuracy

Step 1: Identify Sampling Locations

Choose six spots in a zigzag pattern across your field. Mark these locations.

Step 2: Collect Soil Samples

• Clear the top 2-3 inches of loose soil
• Dig a V-shaped hole (9 inches deep)
• Scrape soil from hole sides using wooden tools
• Collect 1 kg soil from each location

Important: Do not use metal tools for scraping soil to avoid iron contamination.

Step 3: Mix and Prepare Final Sample

• Mix all collected samples thoroughly
• Divide soil into quarters and remove opposite sections
• Continue mixing until 500g remain
• Package final sample in clean, labeled bag

Labeling Requirements:

• Field location and GPS coordinates (if available)
• Sampling date
• Crop type/intended crop
• Your contact information
• Previous fertilizer applications (if any)

Note: Submit samples promptly to maintain accuracy of results.
